The Red Kerosene Lantern-Fun-Safety
The kerosene lantern is obviously steep in our out door culture and may be considered by some as a true friend in time of need. From such activities as farming, fishing, hiking, or visiting our summer homes,some of which may be even more remote than we remember because of our family routine to our summer cottages . So whether your need is for illuminating broad areas,decoration both inside and outside of your cottage,a guide for signaling or as a torch for others to follow the kerosene lantern is a true friend indeed.
Most recently our weather that is in some of our more rural snowy regions of our country have been experiencing severe periods of ice,snow,wind, and rain. This will place additional stress on our electrical resources,for instances batteries,power lines which will receive the most direct impact when the storm arrives. For the kerosene lantern updating its basic design from all steel which is generally considered strong enough to handle this weather. This has led to the creation and including the latest upgrades for an all brass model .
Interesting enough I have often thought what if reading my favorite book would pass the time how would one read the pages. Well it was time to do a little and research ,didn’t take long to discover the Mantle Lantern which is equipped with a woven ceramic fabric which will enhance the light to the incandescent level. Thus creating adequate lighting needed to keep me reading during the storm. However as I read each page one would wonder where is my electricity.
I would just like to mention about the code for safety when working with kerosene,caution is advised because these fuels are toxic and extremely hazardous. Plus don’t use the following,gasoline,naphtha,rubbing alcohol mineral oil,caster oil,or mineral spirits in paint thinner
.Just a little more great stuff to know.
